I may have had a huge collection of stuffed animals when I was little. More specifically, I had a really big collection of pigs. I think the pig fascination had something to do with my oldest brother nicknaming me Pigger when I was born because I came out rather plumb (10 lbs. 12 oz. to be exact. Yes, you can all exclaim "Your poor mother" now). Anyway, I had quite the collection of stuffed friends that either sat on a shelf or slept with me every night. My mom recently passed some of these old friends on to me at my baby shower. I give her an A for creativeness and sneakiness in how she did it. She filled the bassinet she is passing along to me with all of my stuffed animals. Cute idea, and I wasn't able to "accidentally" forget them. Later, I sheepishly had to call and admit to her that she may have missed a few. I was missing some of my dearest stuffed animals and I was pretty sure that they were still in the attic. So now, I have all of my old companions back in my possession, and I'll admit it's been fun going through them, reacquainting ourselves, and admiring their cute faces. I'm excited to pass along some of these friends to our baby boy (see picture). I hope he finds the comfort in them that I did as a young child. I'm saving all of the stuffed pigs in hopes to pass them along to a daughter someday.
The pigs are now in our storage closet, which is getting really full. I told Brant that's our task this weekend, clean out and organize that area. He didn't seem too thrilled. Something about some big football game on Saturday concerning a team that never wears the same uniform more than once. I can't remember if that's what he said though, I seem to have selective hearing whenever the word Duck is used in conversation :)
I'll post belly pictures soon...if Brant ever gets home before I've changed into sweat pants and large sweat shirts.

Hi Katrien!! I just finally checked our jsprunk account and noticed you started a blog! Yay!! :) We need to get together soon, both Justin and I have been saying that lately. Hopefully you're doing well and feeling ok!
ReplyDeleteOk, I commented earlier, but I never read the post - I was just excited to see your blog. I love your stuffed animals and how you are passing them on to your kids. So sweet!
ReplyDeleteHave fun cleaning that closet on Saturday. :) Both of your teams are doing well this year, except I still have a hard time rooting for the Ducks. We have decided to be "fair-weathered" fans this year and are moving on to rooting for the Blazers. They are more fun to watch than Oklahoma right now. :)
You know you do have some dolls up in the attic! Since you're saving the pigs, I will give you those as well :-) M
