Jack's Baptism

This past weekend we baptised Jack at my hometown church in Silverton. It was a very special day. Jack wore the hand knit gown that all of my siblings and I wore when we were baptised. He also was baptised in the baptismal font that we were all baptised in that was made by my dad. After he was dunked, we wrapped him in the blanket Brant had when he was christened. I don't have any pictures of him being immersed into the holy water. Usually babies cry because the water is cold or they aren't expecting to be dipped in water, but Jack didn't make a peep! Brant arranged a special trio with his two friends of the hymn "Praise God From Whom All Blessings Flow." It was a beautiful arrangement. He was baptised along with our friend's baby who was born one day after Jack. We joked that maybe in 25 years they'll be walking down the isle again! After the baptism, we had a reception in the basement of the church hall. Lots of family, good friends, and of course good food and beer equaled a fantastic get together. Here are a couple more pictures from the ceremony:

In addition to the baptism, Brant and I had our first date without Jack this weekend! We stayed in Silverton Saturday night and after dinner my mom and dad watched Jack while Brant and I walked downtown to a wine bar. It was really nice of my parents to watch Jack and it was really nice to have adult conversation with Brant!
